Gourmand & Sweet Note

Sweet fragrances — what perfumers call "gourmand" — are built from the smell of things you'd actually want to eat: chocolate, caramel, honey, burnt sugar, vanilla custard. The whole category owes its existence to Mugler's Angel, which broke every rule of 90s perfumery when it launched and somehow turned dessert into a legitimate fragrance genre almost overnight. Decades later, it's still one of the most-loved directions in perfume, precisely because it smells like comfort rather than sophistication for sophistication's sake.
