Biography
Alberto Morillas is a legendary Master Perfumer, widely regarded as one of the most influential and prolific perfumers in the history of modern fragrance. Born in Seville, Spain, in 1950, he spent his formative years in Switzerland, where he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva. This unique background in fine arts, rather than traditional chemistry, laid the foundation for his deeply artistic and emotive approach to perfumery.
Morillas joined the Swiss fragrance house Firmenich in 1970, marking the beginning of an extraordinary career that has spanned over five decades. He is the nose behind some of the world’s most iconic and commercially successful fragrances, including Calvin Klein CK One, Giorgio Armani Acqua di Giò, Gucci Bloom, Bvlgari Omnia, and Kenzo Flower. His ability to capture the spirit of an era and translate it into a scent has made him a favorite among the world’s leading fashion houses and luxury brands.
In 2013, Alberto Morillas was honored with the prestigious Prix François Coty, a lifetime achievement award that recognizes exceptional contributions to the art of perfumery. A true innovator, he is credited with pioneering the use of certain synthetic molecules, most notably the aquatic and ozonic notes that defined the 1990s and revolutionized modern perfumery.
Beyond his commercial successes, Morillas is also the founder of his own independent perfume house, Mizensir, which he established in 1999. Mizensir allows him the creative freedom to craft bespoke, artisanal fragrances without commercial constraints, reflecting his personal vision and mastery of the craft. Based in Geneva, he continues to create, inspire, and shape the future of fragrance.
