Jacques Huclier
A French Givaudan perfumer who created Thierry Mugler's A*Men, single-handedly launching men's gourmand perfumery.
Biography
Jacques Huclier, a French perfumer and ISIPCA Versailles graduate, began his career at Haarmann & Reimer, mentored by Olivier Cresp and Pierre Bourdon. His breakthrough came in 1996 with Thierry Mugler's A*Men — a revolutionary fragrance that paired earthy patchouli with sweet caramel, coffee and honey over a benzoin base, launching an entirely new category of gourmand men's perfumery. He went on to personally design nearly every A*Men flanker over the following two decades, from Pure Tonka to Kryptomint. Since 2007 he has been a senior perfumer at Givaudan, where his range has extended well beyond gourmands — from the delicate florals of Nina Ricci's Ricci Ricci to the seductive Gucci Guilty Pour Homme, alongside work for Azzaro, Davidoff and Boucheron. His signature lies in short, tightly built formulas anchored around one strong accord.
