Mathilde Laurent is a French perfumer and Cartier's first in-house perfumer, the nose behind La Panthère, Baiser Volé and the Les Heures de Parfum collection.

Biography

Mathilde Laurent is a French perfumer trained at the ISIPCA perfumery school. She began her career at Guerlain in the 1990s, working alongside Jean-Paul Guerlain for around eleven years. Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune, Guet-Apens and Shalimar Eau Légère come from that period.
In 2005 she joined Cartier as its first in-house perfumer and gave the house's fragrances a distinct identity. Her Cartier creations include La Panthère, Baiser Volé, Carat, L'Envol and Roadster. She also created the high perfumery collection Les Heures de Parfum and Cartier's oud line.
Laurent's style is luminous and detailed, blending natural materials with modern molecules. She treats perfumery as an art form and builds a story and symbolism into each scent.
