DSQUARED² Original Wood is a modern woody fragrance for men that captures the feeling of fresh forests, damp wood and cool outdoor air. Launched in 2022 and created by perfumer Daphné Bugey, it combines green violet leaf and watery accords with cardamom before developing into a deeper composition of cedar, silver fir and Haitian vetiver.

The opening is fresh, green and slightly aquatic, with violet leaf giving the fragrance its distinctive clean and leafy character. Cardamom adds a subtle spicy touch, while the heart becomes more recognizably woody with cedar, silver fir and vetiver. Musk, amber and patchouli create a smooth, earthy finish without making the fragrance overly heavy.

Original Wood has a particularly natural outdoor atmosphere. Imagine walking through a cool Canadian forest after light rain, surrounded by wet wood, green leaves and fresh air. It is woody without being dark, fresh without becoming a typical aquatic fragrance, and masculine without relying on sweetness.

The Modern Return of He Wood

Original Wood is not a clone of another brand's fragrance. Instead, it is closely connected to DSQUARED² He Wood, the house's original 2007 woody fragrance. The newer Original Wood uses a similar fragrance concept and many closely related notes, presenting the idea in a stronger Eau de Parfum concentration with updated packaging. It is best understood as a modern successor and reinterpretation of He Wood.
