Biography
Daphné Bugey is a French perfumer and Principal Perfumer at dsm-firmenich. Her fascination with fragrance began during childhood, when she started collecting perfume miniatures and developing an interest in identifying and classifying different scents.
She studied chemistry before attending ISIPCA, the renowned French institute specializing in perfumery, cosmetics and flavorings. After completing her studies, she joined Firmenich in 1997 and built her career within the company, working across its international locations and Fine Fragrance division.
Bugey’s creative philosophy is strongly influenced by curiosity, travel and a desire to experience different cultures and environments. During a year-long sabbatical, she explored different parts of the world, including Nepal, Japan, India and Italy, experiences that broadened her artistic and sensory perspective.
Her style is characterized by spontaneity, boldness and a willingness to explore contrasting olfactory textures. Her portfolio moves comfortably between floral, woody, musky, citrus, oriental and gourmand compositions.
Among her notable creations are Kenzo Amour, A Scent by Issey Miyake, Bergamote 22, Rose 31 and Neroli 36 for Le Labo, Aura for Mugler, Scandal for Jean Paul Gaultier, and K by Dolce & Gabbana. She has also collaborated with numerous international fragrance houses, demonstrating an ability to translate very different creative briefs into distinctive fragrances.
